Using Technology to aid the Teaching Learning Process

Steps in developing ICT Leadership in schools There is no debate around the positive role information and communication technology plays in enhancing learning and managing schools. There is, however, a lack of clarity on the mechanism of implementation. Many schools in the process of technology integration look for clear guidelines and hand-holding. A simple Workable game plan is suggested below.


Project Goal To train a group of teachers in the use of technology, which will enable them to prepare and deliver technology-rich lessons to their students. They will be master trainers for other teachers.


Success Criteria This program will be successful if the selected teachers can: 1. Create lesson plans and presentations on the subject of their choice. 2. Search for relevant resources to add to their lesson plans. 3. Use technology, including the computer, internet, sound system and projector to deliver a digital learning experience to their students. 4. Integrate these learnings in their classroom practices. Plan Resource Person will conduct training sessions on the following topics: 1. How to create a lesson plan. 2. How to search for web resources to be added to the lesson plan. 3. How to deliver a technology-rich lesson plan inside the classroom. 4. How to enable students to use technology to design new things as a part of their learning process. 5. Final projects created by each trainee to showcase what they have learned. 6. Explore and embrace tools that suit them best.


Incentives for Teachers 1. The school will remove all barriers to entry – including the availability of laptops, internet connection, and lack of technical expertise – for participation in this program. 2. The school will create a new category of teachers called “expert teachers”. The teachers who participate in this training will be classified as expert teachers. An expert teacher will be provided with an incentive/ additional remuneration. 3. Any teacher who creates 10 lesson plans in the academic year using this approach will no longer be required to maintain a physical diary. Scaling Up: These expert teachers can now be the mentors and spearhead the whole school implementation. We have tried it out with significant success.
